Welcome to ExpressionMed

ExpressionMed began with the mission to create adhesives for wearable devices that were as fun as they were functional.

According to our customer surveys, these tapes will stay on for 10 days to "3+ weeks" without fraying or lifting. Our material is thin and breathes with your skin so you don't feel it as you move throughout the day.  Our tape has been worn on everyone from a busy dad of five to a competitive swimmer.

ExpressionMed was built for you, and you are the reason our staff continues to work tirelessly everyday to bring this product to life, spread your message, and educate the world.

We are happy that ExpressionMed is a part of your family, and invite you to join ours.

Thoughts on National Diabetes Day: From a Person Without Diabetes

Hi there! Welcome to my very first blog post.

Today, November 14th, is a special day: National Diabetes Day.

I was first introduced into the diabetes community just a few months ago when I began working for ExpressionMed as a marketing and communications lead.

I do not have diabetes, and the only person I previously knew with diabetes before working for ExpressionMed was my grandmother. And I'll be honest, when I was first learning all about the Type One community, it was confusing and overwhelming. I didn't understand how Dexcoms and other CGMs worked. I didn't understand hypers and hypos and how blood glucose worked. I didn't understand the struggles that people with Type One Diabetes experience every. single. day.

However, after learning and talking with many people who are Type One and have openly explained their stories and challenges, I feel equipped to go out into the world and tell others about diabetes and the need to find a cure. And the need to make diabetes supplies and insulin more affordable for the countless individuals and families whose life depends on it.

This is why Diabetes Awareness Month in November is so powerful. People like myself who don't have diabetes but are advocates have the ability to make a difference and educate others about Type One and the importance of supporting the community.

So to everyone out there who is a Type One, thank you for sharing your stories whether they be about struggles or successes. You help show the world that anything is possible and that you are not defined by diabetes. Thank you for inspiring me and countless others in your daily fight.

My thoughts on National Diabetes Day: Enjoy today, it is to celebrate you and your resilience. If you are not a part of the diabetes community, talk to a person with diabetes and learn as much as you can! Jdrf.org or thediabeticjourney.com are a great place to start. Become an advocate for those who fight 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Meet ExpressionMed's Founder/CEO: Meghan Sharkus

Hi! I’m Meghan Sharkus and being the CEO of ExpressionMed continues to be the most challenging and rewarding  experience of my life. Since starting this company in the summer of 2015 I have spent countless days in adhesive research centers, legal offices, and manufacturing facilities learning as much as I can  about making the perfect tape for one of the most inspiring groups of people I know: the diabetes community.

While I have had many rough days, nothing makes me happier than brainstorming with my team, or seeing a designer’s work come to life. I think we all can agree that the highlight of our workweek is talking with moms on the ExpressionMed Ambassador Facebook page and seeing pictures and reviews from families whose routines have been changed by ExpressionMed’s product.

What a lot of people don’t know about me as an entrepreneur is: I love complaints. Because they mean there is something I can fix. If a tape doesn’t work for your skin, email me. Odds are I know what changes you can make in the application to make it work for you. If a tape is too small or too large, email me. I didn’t create this company to make something that I like, I made it for the moms who want to change their child’s device a little less often. For the kids who want cool artwork to show off to their friends. To the adult who has had diabetes for two decades and needs a tape that is reliable in quality and diverse in design.

I am so excited to be creating something that helps such a passionate and deserving community. You guys inspire me everyday to push through the difficult times and build the best product for wearable medical devices.
